Is the Activ5 app free?

Yes, the Activ5 app is free and can be downloaded from the Apple & Google app stores.

Do I need a smartphone to use Activ5?

Yes, a smart phone is required to use Activ5. Activ5 is compatible with most Android & iOS Devices.

You will need an internet connection or mobile data plan to download the Activ5 app and create an Activ5 account for the first time. After you create your account, no internet connection is required to use the Activ5 device or app. However, if you use the app while you are not connected to the internet, your workout data will not be uploaded until the next time you reconnect to the internet.

Does Activ5 track my calories burned?

Activ5 will track calories burned if the app is connected to the Apple Health app on your iOS phone.

Will my data transfer to my Apple watch?

Activ5 will track calories burned if the app is connected to the Apple Health app on your iOS phone.

Unfortunately, the workouts performed with Activ5 do not affect the Activity Exercise minutes ring. However, you can go to the Health app on your iPhone to see the full data for your Workouts using the Activ5 app ( look for the Activ5 logo in the “Workouts” section).

Note: Apple does not support Apple Health on iPads. Therefore, the Activ5 app cannot send the training data performed on an iPad to Apple Health.

Can the Activ5 app be accessed from a computer?

No, at this time we do not offer a desktop version of the Activ5 app.

Is there a way to update the email address associated with my Activ5 account?

Updating your email address is not possible with our current system.

However, we do not validate email addresses, so if your email is no longer valid, it will still work for logging into the Activ5 app.

How do I return my Activ5?

To return your Activ5, please notify the Activbody team at [email protected] to receive a return shipping label. We only accept returns that were purchased directly from our website and returns must be sent back to us within 30 days of purchase.

Is Activ5 suitable for senior citizens?

Yes, the Activ5 adapts itself to everyone’s strength, so it can be a great workout for senior citizens. However, we always recommend you consult a physician to see if isometric exercise is recommended for you.

Is Activ5 suitable for people with physical disabilities?

The Activ5 is a great way for those with physical disabilities to build strength, increase metabolism & tone your body. However, we always recommend you consult a physician to see if isometric exercise is recommended for you.

Can I use my Activ5 if I have high blood pressure?

The Activ5 is not recommended for users with high blood pressure. We recommend consulting a medical professional to see if the Activ5 is suitable for you.

How do I replace my battery?

How do I connect my Activ5?

To connect your Activ5 to your iOS or Android device for the FIRST time:
1 – After you enter your info into the app, you’ll see the “Let’s get your device connected” section.

2 – Turn the Activ5 on & the blinking BLUE light will start (on your phone, make sure Bluetooth is ON)

3 – The app will see your Activ5, which will have a name like “Activ5 XX-XXXX”

4 – Tap on your Activ5’s name & the light on the Activ5 will turn GREEN – connected!

5 – Give your Activ5 its own name (e.g. “Pat’s Activ5”)

NOTE: The steps above are to be done within the Activ5 training app itself, not in your phone or tablet’s Bluetooth settings.

To connect your Activ5 to your iOS or Android device AFTER the first time:
AFTER the first time, your phone & your Activ5 will know each other.

1 – Open the app on your phone & turn on your Activ5

2 – Your Activ5 light will turn from BLUE to GREEN and you’re connected!

3 – Select a workout or exercise and start

If you are having connection issues, here is how you can troubleshoot:
1 – make sure Bluetooth is turned on in your phone’s SETTINGS, airplane mode sometimes shuts off Bluetooth

– If step 1 doesn’t work, then:

a) Turn off Bluetooth in your phone’s SETTINGS
b) Quit the Activ5 app
c) Turn ON Bluetooth in your phone’s SETTINGS
d) OPEN the Activ5 app

Android Users:
Check your Activ5 permissions if you are still having issues connecting. To do that:
1 – Go to Settings in your phone or tablet –> Click Apps –> Click App Permissions
2 – Select Activ5 & make sure location permission is ON

Can an Activ5 be used by more than one person?

Yes, each Activ5 can be used by multiple users. Each user must download the app on their individual devices and create their own unique accounts.

How do I connect my Activ5 to my Apple watch? (iOS only)

You can connect the Activ5 app to Apple Health by clicking “Profile” on the bottom right hand side of the screen of the Activ5 Training app. Then, click “Connect to Apple Health”. Next, click “Turn All Categories On” and then click “Allow” in the top right hand corner.

Is there a specific way to hold the Activ5?

Can I create my own workouts?

No, but you can favorite your favorite exercises to create a workout “playlist” with exercises of your choice.

How do I favorite an exercise?

To make an exercise or workout a favorite, simply tap on the heart next to the title so that it turns orange

– For EXERCISES, the heart is to the right of the exercise description
– For WORKOUTS, the heart is below the workout title

Can I create my own exercises?

No, the Activ5 does not currently allow you to create your own exercises.

How do I change my theme?

To change your theme, click on the “Profile” icon at the bottom right hand side of your app.

Then tap “Themes” and select your desired theme.

Why does my Activ5 need to know my location? (Android only)

A location permission is required because Bluetooth scans are used to gather information about the location of a user in order to pair the device. However, this location info is used only for device scanning and Activbody does not collect any location information.

What is a dynamometer?

A dynamometer measures the strength of different muscle groups and provides resistance which matches that of the patient, allowing for automatic accommodations for weakness, pain or fatigue at specific points in each person’s range of motion.

Can I use the same account with my Activ5 and ActivForce?

The same username and password can be used for the Activ5 and Activforce apps, however, you have to purchase Activforce separetely to access the Activforce app.

Where can I access patients’ data?

Patient test data is stored in the ActivForce Dashboard, which can be accessed from a web browser at the following link: https://activforce.activbody.com

You are given a free 60-day trial with your purchase of the Activforce Kit, but it requires a yearly subscription once the trial period ends. For more information on dashboard pricing, please email [email protected].

Can multiple clinicians use one dashboard?

Yes, dashboard subscriptions can support multiple users.

How do I use the Activforce accessories?

The Accessory Attachment is placed around the Activforce device. For proper fit, slip it around the device so that the logos on both items match positions. Once the Accessory Attachment is on, it can be used to attach the other accessories.

The wraps are used to attach the device to different body parts (i.e. palms, wrists, feet, etc.). Simply wrap it around your body part of choice and attach the Activforce device for use.

 

Do the Activforce accessories affect the accuracy of the measurements while strength testing?

No, using the accessories should not affect the accuracy when strength testing.

However, if you notice that when you put the Accessory Attachment/Vest on your Activ5 device that it starts to measure force without applying any additional pressure to it, there is a way to reset the device back to 0.

If that is the case, please follow the steps below:
1. click the settings button on the top right corner of your Activforce app
2. click “Tare Device” (your Activforce device must be connected to the app in order for this to work)

Is there a way to update the email address associated with my Activforce account?

Updating your email address is not possible with our current system.

However, we do not do email validations, so if your email is no longer valid (i.e. changing the internet provider from Cox to ATT), you can still continue to use [email protected] as an Activbody account on our app.

How do I return my Activforce purchase?

What is the difference between Quick Test (Single Patient) and Standard Test (Multiple Patient) mode?

Quick Test mode is best for quick on-the-go assessments. It measures peak force and provides a force to weight ratio. Data from this mode cannot be saved and viewed to the ActivForce Dashboard.

Standard Test mode allows for you to create patient profiles, select from muscle testing protocols, save, and view patient data on the ActivForce Dashboard.

How do I change the duration of the Quick test?

To change the duration of your test, click the Settings icon on the top right corner of your app and select Test Time. From there you can manually select any duration between 1 and 60 seconds.

Where can I access strength testing guides?

Tap the Settings icon and select Help. Scroll to the bottom of the webpage to view the Activforce Strength Testing Guides.

How do I choose a different testing protocol?

To choose a different testing protocol, select the patient you would like to test and click Test Area(s) to select your preferred protocol(s).

Why does my Activforce need to know my location? (Android only)

What is the Activforce 2?

The Activforce 2 is a patented dynamometer, inclinometer and easy-to-use companion app that utilizes advanced technology to collect and measure real-time force and range of motion data.

What specifically does the Activforce 2 dynamometer measure?

The Activforce 2 provides accurate measurements of the following:

How accurate is the Activforce 2 dynamometer?

The Activforce 2 dynamometer is accurate within 1.4 lbs. +/-5% of the applied force.

What is the maximum force the device can measure?

250 lbs. or 110 kg.

The specifications of the Activforce 2 are as follows:

Is the Activforce 2 dynamometer waterproof?

The device itself and the accessories are water-resistant. They may be wiped down with a damp cloth or disinfecting wipe.

Will my account be tied to a specific device?

In order to sign up, you will need an unused Activforce 2 device. When registering your account, your email address will be tied to the device’s serial number.

Once you have created an account, you can connect to any Activforce 2 device.

 

 

Does the Activforce 2 dynamometer ever need to be calibrated or tared?

Your Activforce 2 device should not need to be calibrated. Rarely, you may find that your strength measurements do not seem as accurate. When this happens, go to Settings > Calibrate your device and tare the device.

What comes in the Activforce 2 kit?

In your Activforce 2 kit you will find the Activforce 2 dynamometer with a locking mechanism, a rounded pad, an arched pad for flatter body parts, a leg strap to attach the device to a patient’s leg, a hand strap to attach the device to your hand, a belt to measure pull force and a belt loop plate to secure the hand and leg straps to the dynamometer.

How do I switch out the Activforce 2 pads?

To change out pads, hold the top, softer part of the pad and turn it to the left. The pad should easily twist off. Take the new pad, line it up with the locking mechanism on the device and twist to the right until the pad is secure.

The locking mechanism is designed to hold the pads at multiple angles. Keep turning the attachment at 90 degree angles until it locks into the angle you prefer.

 

Can I access test data from previous measurement tests I performed in Activforce 2?

No patient data is stored at this time. Once you email a data summary to the email associated with your account or explicitly end a test, the data for the measurements you previously performed is no longer accessible.

Can I store and view patient data later?

No patient data is stored at this time.

Can I create a custom protocol?

Each test series you perform with Activforce 2 is customizable. You can set and store default settings for strength tests, but you cannot create custom protocols at this time.

Are there standard protocols I can use in the new app?

Based on extensive feedback from physical therapists, we have done away with standard protocols in favor of measurement tests that are customized for your patient’s injury.

How do I measure a knee or elbow joint that does not have full extension?

Although the Activforce device tests a range of motion, and does not calculate a starting angle, you can still measure a knee or elbow joint that does not have full extension. See how-to video for step-by-step instructions.

How do I strength test someone who is stronger than I am?

The belt may be used to test a patient or athlete who may be stronger or larger than you.

How can I see a patient’s force-to-weight ratio?

To view force to weight ratio data, tap the “Enter Weight to see F/W %” button on the Strength Summary screen. You will be asked to enter the patient’s weight, then tap “Calculate F/W %.”

How do I change the email associated with my account?

I own the original Activforce device. Will I still be able to use the old Activforce app?

Yes, we will still continue to support the original Activforce app for use with the Activforce device.

Can I use the new Activforce 2 app with my older Activforce device?

Yes, the new Activforce 2 app works with the original Activforce device, although the Activforce data dashboard is not currently supported in the new app.

Can I use the old Activforce app with a new Activforce 2 device?

No, the new Activforce 2 dynamometer only works with the Activforce 2 app.

Will I be able to access my data from the original Activforce Dashboard in the new Activforce 2 app?

Not at this time, however, we expect to migrate ActivForce data from the dashboard to the new  app in a future version.

 

 

How do I activate the app to work with my Activforce 2 dynamometer?

After you purchase your Activforce 2 device, sign up for an account on the Activforce 2 app or log in to an existing Activbody account. When signing up, the app will connect your account with the serial number of the device. Once you have an account, you can use any registered Activforce 2 device.
